Race 3 (9f Birdstone Stakes)
1 A. P. Arrow and 4 Hesanoldsalt are head and shoulders better than anyone in this field but it is hard to have confidence in either horse. I would play a young up and comer if there was one to be found in this field. 6 Frost Giant may just be that horse  - he has only seven lifetime races and is a two-time Group 3 winner. Unfortunately he has never raced on the dirt but his pedigree, while favoring grass, is not anti-dirt.

Race 5 (8.5f Turf Foresta Stakes)
Only two of these are really bred for the turf – 3 I’m In Love and 11 Fantastic Shirl (both trained by Kiaran McLaughlin). Fantastic Shirl has slowly progressed her way up the allowance ladder and has routinely burned money as favorite (since last May she is 2 of 7 as race favorite), but she does well closing against a fast pace, which I suspect she’ll get in this eleven horse field.

Race 6 (6f True North Handicap)
5 Bordonaro might be tons the best but despite his 10 of 15 lifetime record, he does not appear to be that much faster than the rest of the field. He has also done most of his running on the west coast and it remains to be seen if his form will carry over to Belmont Park. If he doesn’t fire it could be 3 Keyed Entry, the last place finisher in the ’06 Derby who should develop into a top flight sprinter/miler. Tough race. I’ll go with Keyed Entry who will be a the better price (5/2 morning line) and is getting six pounds from Bordonaro

Here is an $896 Pick Six play. I doubt I’ll bet it but this is how I’d approach it. To shave some $ off this would involve singling 2 English Channel in the Manhattan and 1 Dream Rush in the Acorn.

5 Wait A While is 5 of 6 on the turf with two Grade I wins. Ignore her lackluster effort over the polytrack last time out and bet her if she is 4/5 or higher.

Race 8 (7f Woody Stephens Breeders’ Cup Stakes)
Decipher this race and the Pick Four and Pick Six are yours to have. I think the two Derby runners, 3 Stormello (19th) and 4 Teuflesberg (17th) will be overbet. If forced to make a decision I’d eat chalk with 8 Street Magician.

Race 9 (Mile Acorn Stakes)
1 Dream Rush, 3 Christmas Kid, 4 Cotton Blossom, and 6 Boca Grande look evenly matched on paper. Cotton Blossom offers the best price, a result of her fading to ninth place in the Kentucky Oaks, and she is worth a play at 5/1.

Race 10 (10f Turf Manhattan Handicap)
2 English Channel is a multiple Grade I winner and deserved the Eclipse award for Turf male last year – at 5/2 he is a major play, but he will probably be 7/5. 7 Better Talk Now is getting long in the tooth but can still make a sustained stretch run.

Race 11 (12f Belmont Stakes)
4 Curlin is the top 3yo in America and is lengths better than the rest of this field. This is a big step up for 7 Rags to Riches and she will be overbet based on her speed figures and pedigree (half to ’06 Belmont winner Jazil). 6 Hard Spun is most likely to finish second.
