Two bets to get you out of '07

In the 1 5/8 mile Gallant Fox (3rd at Aqueduct on Saturday), take the Contessa entry of Successful Affair and Malibu Moonshine at anything better than 4/5. Successful Affair was just stretching his legs in the Coyote Lakes, making a late run at Nite Light to just miss in his first time out after six months. Now with a race under his belt and an extra furlong, look for him capture the Gallant Fox for the second straight year. Malibu Moonshine has got talent going long as well, with a win in the 14f Pleasant Colony (over Successful Affair) in April and a third in the G1 Suburban. It's a pity the Gallant Fox is no longer a graded stakes race.

Take your winnings from the Gallant Fox and put'em on T.D. Vance in the Impressive Luck (7th at Santa Anita on Monday) on the downhill turf course. Espinoza wrapped up on T.D. Vance in his last start after he got completely wiped out at the top of the stretch (resulting in a long inquiry and a disqualification). His previous start at Keeneland in the Woodford he hit the lead too early and lost focus allowing Fort Prado to nail him at the wire. I'm expecting 10/1 or better on T.D. Vance in what will be the icing on what has already been a good 2007.
