Aunt Dot Dot

I have been swamped the past few weeks, so I am sorry for the lack of updates.

I headed up a group that claimed Aunt Dot Dot, a 6yo Gulch Mare from a $5000 claiming race at Philadelphia Park on August 30th (a race she won, earning a 55 Beyer figure).

Two of my friends and I are in the process of establishing Truxton Stables (we decided Equinometrics Stables was too geeky). Truxton was a 19th century racehorse and stallion owned by President Andrew Jackson. Coming up with names is a bitch. Truxton beat out Kirkcaldy Stables (Adam Smith's birthplace), Bandera Stables (Texas Hill Country town), Luckenbach Stables (Texas Hill Country Outpost made famous by Waylon Jennings and Jerry Jeff Walker), and Pedasus Stables (epic hero Achilles had three horse pulling his chariot: Xanthos and Balios, who were immortal, and the mortal Pedasus who was nevertheless able to keep up with his companions - brilliant story but stupid name). Truxton Stables will race and breed horses.

Aunt Dot Dot was primarily claimed for her potential as a broodmare. She was bred by Courtlandt Farms (Film Maker, Adriano) and is the first foal from the unplaced Capote filly Aunt Dot. Aunt Dot is out of Ann Alleged who placed in two stakes and won $130k. Aunt Dot Dot's 4th dam is Miss Carmie, a top notch producer who threw Filly Triple Crown winner Chris Evert, dam of Chief's Crown, and All Rainbows, the dam of 1989 Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors. Aunt Dot Dot has three half siblings, all by top sire Distorted Humor: Cassoulet (05, colt), Global Gala (06, filly), and an unnamed 08 weaning. Aunt Dot Dot is 6 of 41 lifetime and has finished in the money 22 times earning $204k. She broke her maiden as a 2yo at Aqueduct in a Md Sp Wt race going 7f. She was a close second as a new 3yo in Jan at Gulfstream Park in an N1X Allowance race, but after two mediocre showings was dropped into high level claiming races. She was eventually transferred from the East Coast to Courtlandt's JV team and trainer Cole Norman for her 4yo campaign. In her second race for Norman she was claimed for $25,000. She spent three months with Charles Dickey winning her N1X Allowance at Oaklawn before being claimed again for $30,000. Dodson Skaggs was able to coax three wins from her and she was taken from him for $50,000 by Scott Lake in her 5yo debut at Keeneland. Lake took to her to Philadelphia, where she floundered, tumbling down the claiming ladder to the August 30th $5000 nonwinner of a race in six months. It was there where she won for the first time since December 2006 and where we grabbed her.

Aunt Dot Dot is now under the care of Donnie White. We have entered her twice but neither race filled (1m 70y Claiming $16,000 and 1 1/16m Claiming $25,000-20,000). Apparently she is sound and training well. This morning she breezed a half-mile in 49 flat. Her value as a broodmare will in large part be determined by the success of her siblings by Distorted Humor. Cassoulet runs tomorrow in a second level allowance race at Belmont Park. I believe Cassoulet is runner and I will back him at 8/1. In the past, only my bankroll has been affected by the races. Tomorrow it is will also be my investments.
